WHAT IT IS
An on-page SEO checker analyzes one web page for the elements that search engines and visitors read directly: the title tag, meta description, headings, images, content length, canonical tag and how a target keyword is used. It tells you what is missing or off, so you can fix the page before it competes in search.
On-page SEO is the part of optimization you fully control. Technical crawling and backlinks help a page get found, but on-page signals tell search engines and readers what the page is about. This free on-page SEO checker gives you a fast, plain-language read on those signals for any public page.
WHAT IT CHECKS
| Check | What it flags | Why it matters | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Title tag | Missing, or outside 30 to 60 characters | The title is the headline in search results and a strong relevance signal. | Write a unique title, put the main topic first and keep it near 60 characters. |
| Meta description | Missing, or outside 70 to 160 characters | It shapes the snippet and the click, though it is not a ranking factor. | Write a unique summary of 120 to 160 characters with a reason to click. |
| H1 heading | Missing, or more than one | One H1 states the topic clearly. | Use exactly one H1 that matches the page topic. |
| Heading structure | Skipped levels, such as H1 straight to H3 | A clean outline helps readers and crawlers scan the page. | Step down one level at a time: H1, then H2, then H3. |
| Image alt text | Images with no alt attribute | Alt text supports accessibility and image search. | Add short, descriptive alt text. Empty alt is fine for decorative images. |
| Word count | Fewer than 300 words, ignoring scripts and styles | Very thin pages often fail to answer the search intent. | Add useful detail that matches what searchers want. |
| Canonical tag | No canonical declared | It tells Google which URL is the preferred version. | Add a self-referencing canonical to every indexable page. |
| Robots meta | A noindex directive | Noindex removes a page from search results. | Remove noindex from pages that should rank. |
| Viewport tag | No mobile viewport tag | Google indexes the mobile version first. | Add the viewport meta tag to the page head. |
| Open Graph tags | Missing og:title, og:description or og:image | They control how the page looks when shared. | Add the three Open Graph tags, usually through your SEO plugin. |
| Keyword use | Missing keyword, or density above 3 percent | It shows whether the page targets its keyword without stuffing. | Use the keyword naturally in the title, H1 and opening paragraph. |

FAQ
An on-page SEO checker analyzes one web page for the elements that search engines and visitors read directly, such as the title tag, meta description, headings, images, word count and keyword use, and tells you what to fix.
Enter the page URL, or paste its HTML source, add an optional target keyword and press Analyze. The report lists each check as passed, needs attention or failed, with an explanation.
Google usually shows roughly the first 50 to 60 characters of a title tag before cutting it off. A title that is too long gets truncated, and one that is too short wastes space you could use for useful context. This tool flags titles outside 30 to 60 characters.
Around 120 to 160 characters is the range Google most often shows in full. It does not directly affect rankings, but it strongly influences whether someone clicks your result. This tool warns outside 70 to 160 characters.
Alt text describes an image to screen reader users and gives search engines context they cannot get from pixels alone, which also affects image search visibility. Decorative images can use an empty alt attribute, and this tool does not flag those.
There is no universal number, but pages under about 300 words often struggle to cover a topic in enough depth to rank for competitive terms. Depth should match search intent, not an arbitrary target.
The tool counts how many times your keyword or phrase appears as whole words in the visible page text and divides by the total word count. It also checks whether the keyword is in the title, meta description and H1. A density above 3 percent is flagged as possibly over-optimized.
This checker examines one page in detail, including keyword use. The Technical SEO Auditor crawls many pages from your sitemap and reports problems that repeat across a whole site.
